South Bend, Indiana -- The United States Attorney’s
Office announced that:
PLEAS:
Ø Darlene Jacquez,
31, of South Bend, Indiana, pled guilty before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein to the felony offense of concealment of
information with the intent to fraudulently secure payment from the Social
Security Administration. Magistrate Nuechterlein is recommending that the district court accept
the tendered guilty plea. Parties have
10 days in which to object to the magistrate judge’s recommendation. Sentencing has been set for 9/6/12. These charges were filed as the result of an
investigation by the Social Security Administration. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant
United States Attorney John Maciejczyk.
Ø Jason P. Mitschelen,
25, of North Liberty, Indiana, pled guilty before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein to the felony offenses of impersonating an
officer or employee of the United States and wrongful use of government
seals/instruments. Magistrate Nuechterlein is recommending that the district court accept
the tendered guilty plea. Parties have
10 days in which to object to the magistrate judge’s recommendation. Sentencing has been set for 8/30/12. These charges were filed as the result of an
investigation by the United States Marshal's Service. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant
United States Attorney Donald Schmid.
If convicted in
court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge
after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing
Guidelines.
DISPOSITIONS:
Ø Susan Szyinski, 48,
of Union, Michigan, was sentenced by Judge Jon DeGuilio
to 7 months imprisonment, 7 months of home detention, restitution of $5,096.85
and 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offense
of bank fraud. This case was the result of an investigation by the United States
Postal Inspection Service. This case was
prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank Schaffer.
